Basic Life Insurance pays your beneficiary a lump sum payment if you die. AD&D provides another layer of benefits to either you or your beneficiary if you suffer from loss of a limb, speech, sight, or hearing, or if you die in an accident. Coverage for eligible employees of participating districts is provided by The Hartford. The cost of coverage is paid in full by the district.

Voluntary Life and AD&D

​Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance allows you to purchase additional insurance to protect your family's financial security if you suffer from loss of a limb, speech, sight or hearing, or if you die.  Coverage for eligible employees of participating districts is provided by The Hartford.

Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance


Employee Voluntary Life and AD&D

  • Increments of $10,000 up to $300,000
  • Guarantee issue of $100,000 for newly eligible employees. Guarantee issue of $10,000 available for existing employees during annual enrollment period.
  • Amounts requested above the Guarantee Issue limits are subject to medical underwriting by The Hartford.  Evidence of Insurability Form required.

Spouse Voluntary Life and AD&D

  • Increments of $5,000 up to max of $100,000 or 100% of employee's total coverage.
  • Guarantee issue of $30,000 for newly eligible spouses. Guarantee issue of $5,000 available for existing spouses during annual enrollment period.
  • Amounts requested above the Guarantee Issue limits are subject to medical underwriting by The Hartford.  Evidence of Insurability Form required.
  • Requires purchase of Employee Voluntary Life benefit.

Child(ren) Voluntary Life and AD&D

  • $5,000 for each child up to age 26 ($500 if child is less than 6 months).
  • Requires purchase of Employee Voluntary Life benefit.
