This tool can help you determine the pre-tax cost of your medical plan options for October 1, 2026-September 30, 2027

What You'll Need Before You Start:

• Your employer's monthly contribution toward your medical plan. 
  • This amount should be based on a 12-month schedule, regardless of whether you are an 11-pay or 12-pay employee. 
  • If you are not a full-time employee, be sure to pro-rate the contribution.
  • If you're unsure of this amount, contact your district's payroll or benefits office .
• Your current medical plan election.  You can find this information through the MyHealthBenefits portal.  Click here for more information on the MyHealthBenefits portal.  

Understanding the Calculator's Tabs

1. Summary 

• Results: Shows your estimated cash‑in‑lieu amount or payroll deduction (if the number is negative). and reflects only the pre-tax impact to your payroll and does not include out-of-pocket costs expense.     
• More Information: Identifies the least costly plan on two use scenarios:
  • Preventive Care:  annual wellness exam, vaccinations and screenings
  • Maximum Use:  when you reach your out-of-pocket maximums 
• Graph:  Compares your overall costs (payroll + out-of-pocket costs) for all plans in both the preventive care and maximum use scenarios. 

2. Scenario Input

Use this tab to input the number of office visits, other services and prescriptions for each of your covered family members.     

3. Scenario Results

• The Results box lists the plans with the highest net savings (or lowest net cost, including both payroll and out-of-pocket costs) for the Preventive Care, the care Scenario you input, and the Maximum Use scenarios. 
• The chart displays that information for each of the plans from which y ou may choose. 
• The table at the bottom of the page provides that information for the care Scenario you input.

• You can go back to the Scenario Input tab at any time to adjust your inputs and see updated results.  
• Within the tool's window  you can increase or decrease the font size as needed for better viewing.  
• You can open the tool in a new window by clicking the icon in the bottom right of the tool's display.
