Is your dentist out-of-network? Ask them about Assignment of Benefits (AOB)!

Members receiving dental services from an out-of-network dental provider can request Assignment of Benefits (AOB) from their dentist if the dentist files the claims with Delta Dental on behalf of the member. 

The AOB provision allows members to authorize Delta Dental to pay the provider directly for Delta Dental's portion of the cost, which should leave members responsible for only their portion of the cost at the time of service.

This provision is available to the BSSP group numbers only; it is not a Delta Dental-wide option.

Providers must agree to accept Assignment of Benefits. The method in which your authorization is provided will vary based on how your provider submits claims to Delta Dental. Check with your dentist at the time of service.

And don't forget...your AOB authorization must be completed each time you visit the dentist.
