What's New October 1st?

Medical

  • Rate increases on Anthem plans vary from 3.6% – 6.8% for an average increase of 4.4%.
  • Anthem and Kaiser HSA $3000 plans are changing to $3400. The Individual deductible is increasing to $3,400 and Family to $6,800. The annual out-of-pocket maximum for Individuals is increasing to $6,000 and Family to $12,000.
  • New maintenance medications require 3 30-day fills before a 90-day fill will be allowed.

Dental

  • Dental plan benefits and rates remain the same.
  • BSSP and our benefits consultants continue to actively monitor the Delta Dental network issues in our area and across the state. We are continuing to evaluate other carrier options, but at this time, Delta Dental still provides the largest network of providers based on review of other carrier networks against our membership’s provider utilization. The good news…BSSP’s dental plans provide coverage for non-network providers so you can continue to receive treatment from your dentist. The not-so-good-news…you may have an additional financial responsibility when receiving services from an out-of-network provider. Here are some things to consider:
    • Out-of-network dentists may bill the difference between their usual fee and Delta Dental’s contracted rate — a process known as “balance billing.”
    • Out-of-network dentists may also require you to pay the full cost of treatment up front. You can then submit your claim for reimbursement using the Dental Claim Form.

Vision

  • The following enhancements have been added:
    • Plans 4 and 8 – Contact Lens allowance increased from $150 to $250.
    • Premium and Custom Progressive lens enhancements will be capped at a $40 member copayment.
  • Vision plan rates increase an average of $6 across all plans.
